Puerto Plata Province is one of the 31 provinces of the Dominican Republic. The Atlantic Ocean is at the north and at the northwest, Montecristi province at the east, and Valverde, Santiago and Espaillat provinces are at the south,
Puerto Plata has a surface of 1857 Km2. Its population is of 312,706 inhabitants. Its population density is of 163, 1 /Km2 inhabitants.
Puerto Plata includes many tourist places, such as Cabarete Beach as it is very well-known by aquatic sports that are practiced in this beach. There has been a great change in Sosua and Cabarete in Puerto Plata Province during the last years. These two places have had a tremendous development and have become one of the most important attractions for national and international tourism.

The economy is based on agriculture, industry and tourism. In relation to industries, food manufacturing, rum and smaller products have had a great impact on economy.
